ISSUED: March 15, 2006
EFFECTIVE: March 20, 2006
DEKALB-PEACHTREE ATCT LETTER TO AIRMEN NO. 06-01
SUBJECT: TAXI INTO POSITION AND HOLD (TIPH)
CANCELLATION: March 20, 2008
In an effort to reduce the likelihood of operational errors
associated with Taxi into position and hold (TIPH), the Federal Aviation
Administration has instituted changes as to how TIPH will be utilized at
airports in the National Airspace System. Beginning March 20, 2006, TIPH
procedures will be conducted during the busy traffic periods at
DeKalb-Peachtree Airport when staffing and operational requirements permit.
Expected hours of TIPH procedures are 1300 through 1900 local on Tuesday
through Friday.
During those time periods when TIPH procedures are
not in effect and traffic demands dictate
a need for additional spacing, coordination with Atlanta TRACON will take
place. This coordination is needed to ensure adequate separation between
arrival and departure IFR aircraft. During this time, touch and go, and
stop and go operations may be restricted. Additionally, all departure
aircraft may experience delays at the runways due to additional spacing
needs.
